Triticale Seeds
Triticale is a cross between wheat (Triticum) and rye (Secale) with double the chromosomes of either parent making it sterile. Triticale was bred for its grain quality, productivity, and disease resistance of wheat with the vigor and hardiness of its rye parent. This cross continues to see further developments and improvements as research is done to improve its use as a forage and cover crop. Today triticale is most popularly used as a minor cereal grain animal feed crop. You can see it mainly grown in the southern great plains of the U.S. but it can be used in other regions where wheat and rye are commonly grown.
