A hardy perennial shrub grown for its clusters of fragrant white flowers in spring and nutritious dark purple berries in late summer. Elderberries are prized for syrups, jellies, wines, and herbal remedies. Attractive in hedgerows, edible landscapes, or wildlife plantings. Expect 2-3 years until a full harvest is produced. These berries must be cooked before consumption.
