This very large flowering variety of poppy produces crimson red flowers with a distinct broad white cross in the center. This resembles the Danish flag that gives this variety its name. The three-foot plants bloom for weeks in the summer with 5-6 inch blossoms with fringed petal edges. Seeds benefit from a cold stratification period of 4-5 weeks in a moist paper towel, then surface sow indoors anytime in the spring. Alternately, sow outdoors in late fall or early spring. Press seeds gently into the soil as light aids germination.
