Instructions - Micro Mat Growing Pad
General Growing Instructions: For trays without drain holes :
(recommended for microgreens & herbs)
- Add water into tray (amount may vary based on use).
- Place one Micro-Mat on the water surface (centered) and allow to absorb water.
- Pour off any excess water by carefully tilting the tray.
- Spread seeds evenly over the hydrated mat and mist.
- Cover and keep in dark for a few days (time and technique may vary based on seed type).
- Remove cover and add water as needed until harvest.
- After harvest, compost the spent mat made from the Micro-Mat and intertwined root system.
General Growing Instructions: For trays with drain holes :
(recommended for grasses & shoots)
- Center the Micro-Mat in the bottom of the tray. (See note below about expansion)
- With the tray over a sink or other area where excess water can drain safely, pour water onto Micro-Mat to saturate. Excess water will drain.
- Avoid pouring water in one spot as fully hydrated mat is easily damaged by water streams focused on one area.
- Spread seeds evenly over the hydrated mat and mist.
- Cover and keep in dark for a few days (time and technique may vary based on seed type).
- Remove cover and add water as needed until harvest. Water from above or flood from below.
- After harvest, compost the spent mat made from the Micro-Mat and intertwined root system.
***Please Note: Micro-Mats are cut to fit 20” x 10” growing trays. Because Micro-Mats expand when absorbing water, the pads are cut smaller than the interior dimensions of the trays. This is normal. When placing the mat in the tray, center the mat so it expands evenly toward the edges. If the mat doesn’t not expand all the way to the edges this is okay. Generally seeds off the edge will still sprout their roots will knit into the root mat formed by the growing seedlings.
